Libra-net (15): The second Science for Kids conference
Getting ready to unleash our science fantasies. Donations greatly appreciated!
1. We are getting ready for the second Science for Kids conference, taking place at the International School NOVA on October 7 under the motto “Unleash your science fantasy!” For last year’s conference we raised 5000 EUR in five days, and most of the money arrived from the S(c)iesta community. This year we are trying something different, asking for donations from the conference participants (registration is still free) and from anybody who likes our work. If you would like to support the conference, please donate by becoming a paid Substack subscriber:
or by sending your donation to our Macedonian bank account:
Account number: 250-0010051639-69
Recepient: Foundation KANTAROT
Donation Code: 562
2. In preparing for the conference we put together a promotional video summarizing what we accomplished over the past year. We poured our heart and soul into this, and we are very grateful to the marketing agency Publicis for the production and to the band Bei the Fish for the soundtrack!
3. During the conference we will have presentations by Macedonian scientists working abroad, who will talk about optical illusions (Nikola Stikov from the University of Montreal) and probability (Tanja Pavleska from Jozef Stefan Institute in Slovenia). Each talk will be accompanied by a workshop where kids will create their own Ames window and play the Monty Hall game for a chance to win a prize. Following the workshops we will announce the winners of our Science Fantasy art contest and we will acknowledge three teachers who showed great dedication in promoting Science for Kids in their schools and beyond. The conference will end with the announcement of the “Ivan Kjostarov” award given to one elementary school student who demonstrated exceptional science potential.
4. In the lead-up to the conference we have been very active on our social media channels and the results are showing. We managed to top 10,000 followers on Facebook, 1,000 subscribers on YouTube, and we are about to reach 1,000 fans on Instagram. Feel free to like us and give us a boost on any of our social media channels. Perhaps we will even manage to top 100 followers on Twitter:)

5. We have also received a number of submissions for the digital portion of our Science Fantasy competition, and decided to join the fun by creating AI-generated overlays of our logo. Take a peak at the results, generated with the artificial intelligence of KREA AI and the natural intelligence of our very own Agâh Karakuzu:
That’s it for this week! Thank you all for reading, sharing and funding our work!
