Libra-net (1)
We are rebranding the announcements section to Libra-net. Please bear with us while we figure out how to communicate in two languages, and register for the February 9 S(c)iesta with Marija Drenkovska.
Our last post attracted quite a few anglophone subscribers. We wish everybody a warm welcome and all the best in 2022!
Going forward, the SHARE-ish newsletter will be English-only, whereas the main QANTAROT newsletter will be a mix of Macedonian (the Sciesta reports by Natasha), and English (the Libra-net announcements and links). If you want to minimize your Cyrillic exposure, here is a screenshot that explains how to do it.
1. We were thrilled by the turnout and the media coverage of our first public S(c)iesta dedicated to COVID: Two years later. Over 300 viewers joined us in real-time, our FB event reached over 14, 000 people, and quite a few news outlets covered the panel (thoroughly, professionally, and virally). Big thank you to our panelists Haris Babacic, Dragan Danilovski, Elisaveta Stikova and Nikola Panovski, and if you missed the panel you can watch it on our YouTube channel:
2. Congratulations to Toso Filipovski who won the prestigious journalism award Mito Hadzivasilev Jasmin for his tireless work on documenting Macedonian rock history! Toso's rock encyclopedias were supported by Nikola Stikov, and they served as inspiration for the enthusiast-driven projects funded by Foundation KANTAROT.
Toso gave an unforgettable acceptance speech in the Macedonian parliament, a pastiche of Macedonian lyrics that should be widely shared and loudly sung:

3. Petar Popovski is the new Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications. Petar's first blog post outlines his vision for the journal and introduces a series of interviews with authors publishing in the journal:
4. Aleksandar Bojchevski has a number of doctoral and postdoctoral positions related to Trustworthy Machine Learning and ML for Graphs. The work will take place at the CISPA Helmholtz Center for Information Security in Saarbrücken, Germany. 5. The first S(c)iesta of 2022 will take place on February 9 at 8pm Macedonian time.
